Around the Borough of Darlington
While with the Ramblers’
Association, Alan was instrumental in producing a series of 10 walks
leaflets, in conjunction with friends and Darlington Borough Council.
The aim was to have easy-to-follow, self-contained illustrated
publications which would be free to the public, provide access to all
parts of the attractive countryside around Darlington, and contain
interesting aspects of local history.
view the leaflets as pdf files in Acrobat Reader installed on your PC click on the thumbnails below. They can then be downloaded to a suitable PC
folder via your browser by the menu “File/save as…”. When viewing them, pages 4 & 1 display
together, then pages 2 & 3. If you wish, you can print each
leaflet double-sided and fold in half to produce an A5-size booklet.
word of caution………
leaflets all include a map of the route and most of the walks are
waymarked on the ground. Please note, however, that they were
originally compiled quite some time ago and have not been fully revised
recently. Paths sometimes change over time and you are advised to check
the routes against a current OS map and watch for any signposted
diversions while walking them. The walks are obviously undertaken at
your own risk.
